Today I wanted to write about the awesome #thedailymarker30day challenge that I participated in which was hosted by the lovely Kathyrac from thedailymarker.com. It was amazing to participate in this wonderful challenge. It totally took me out of the hoarding mode of craft supplies to actually making something. I just can’t be thankful enough to her for that. She is saying she’ll start another challenge soon. Can’t wait for that! So I thought why not share some of the cards I made with you guys? They are all on my instagram account which is @biamakani but having them on my blog seems like a good way to share too along with details about the projects.
For the first day I watercolored a stamp from pennyblack. I just cut the giant birthday cake. Later on I converted it into a card with a golden heat embossed background from an old cupcake stamp that I had.
I also made this “you are picture perfect” card by using stencil from the crafter’s companion in the background & making my own alpha sticker type things. Also used the Simonsaysstamp heart dies to make those glitter hearts that you see from the glitter tape. It was a true labor of love 🙂
On the last day I made this Thank you card fro Kathy for creating this challenge. In this I used a stencil from the crafters companion. Used distress inks to color the flowers & outlined them with pigma micron pen.
These are not all of them but if I start writing about all of them then it would be a very long blog post and boring too. So I urge you to check out my instagram to look at them.
Today I thought I would share a birthday card with you that I made for a little girl. Usually I never get around to write a post or even post any pictures about the cards that I make or the things that I create to give to others but now I have decided it is enough. Need to stop slacking and start doing 😉
Firstly I die cut this balloon from both pink and white heavy weight card stock with Simon says stamp balloons die set. Then I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with ranger super fine gold embossing powder. The stamp set that I used is Stampin’ Up’s “Another great year”. After that I made a crease line on the top quarter of the white die cut so that it can fold easily. Then I glued the pink die cut on which I did the heat embossing and all and glued it on the top fold of the white die cut to make it a top folding card. Then I punched some music signs from Kelly Perky’s glitter tape and added it like little sprinkles on the card to make it more playful. After that I finally broke out my Wink of Stella clear glitter pen (I was so afraid to use this baby up 😉 ) and added it on the stamped banner. Hope my camera captures the beautiful shimmer it gives. It is just stunning in real life. Now I understand why everyone in the card making world is going nuts about it. I just wish it wasn’t so expensive! But what can you do about it. Right 😉
Then I tied a lawn fawn trimming called “gold sparkle hemp cord” on the narrow opening of the balloon or whatever you call it. The exact word seems to skip my mind right now. Then I used ranger multi medium matte on the trimming and twisted it around a pen so that it creates looped string for the balloon & stays in place as well. Then I wrote personalised message in the card. After that I also made a custom envelope with red card stock from recollections with my We are memory keepers envelope punch board. Then I punched a heart from the glitter tape to put on the envelope where it is enclosed to give it an extra umph :p
Btw both the card and the envelope are notecard A5 size (4.25 by 5.5 inches) for reference. Plus it is a top folding card. Hope you liked it 🙂
I am also submitting this post for the Simon Says stamp Wednesday Blog challenge which is anything goes!
